Food Micro Lab Day 1

如今food micro的project部分正式开始了，今天周一，总算是搞明白了Dana这厮想做什么。就是说，我们要研究一种食品，比如说香肠，就说香肠吧。这个香肠会被一种listeria生长。我们要研究不同的盐以及的浓度，对这种细菌生长的抑制作用。我们做两个方面的实验。首先我们研究不同盐以及不同盐度对pure culture listeria的影响。我们会让listeria生长在TSA上面，然后再加入不同盐以及不同盐度的饱和paper discs，从而我们可以通过测量zone of inhibition来得出结论。另一方面，我们将盐加入香肠，然后密封保存它们。今后每次实验，我们都会将香肠stomach，之后再种植到MOX agar的track plate上面。以此计算生长情况。
今天是第一天，我们大致是准备了第一套实验所需要的agar。

Dana这个人很粗心，本来应该是做TSA agar的，他却弄了TSB，好在我们确实需要一定量的TSB，不过这1.3L的TSB也太浪费了。

这些tubes都是用来加TSB用的，TSB可以用来培养pure culture listeria.

这些仍然都是TSB，其实这些都没用了，不需要如此费心，倒了就好了。。

这品才是TSA，可以发现，他的颜色明显的比刚才的TSB要深。TSA A代表agar,而TSB中的B代表broth。前者能固体化，后者常温下是液态的。

这是两个我们会需要的盐，另外还有两瓶，还没出现。

我在倒TSA进入petri plates。我的光头很不专业。

Group Project Progress 5 有图有真相

We get a van of shoes and cloth at the beginning. It made us confident with the project.

Group Project Progress 4

I printed 30 copies of the flyers and delivered into the mailboxes of my neighbors. I hope some of them might come.

Group Project Progress 3

We have decided what flyers we are going to use to advocate our real cloth drive on Wednesday. I think everything is becoming straightened up. I will be taking care of the photographs during the cloth drive, and I started getting the battery charged so that things won't mess up. I haven't heard any updates from my group mates during these days. I think everyone now is clear about what we are going to do and what we individually needs to do for the project.

Group project progress 2

Today we went to the conference. Brenna gave us some inspirations so that we clarified our missions. We are going to have the cloth drive on next Wednesday at 5 p.m near the stadium. Josh and Mat will take care of the place we hold the cloth drive. Tyler will write the final essay. Sonia made the flyers and I will take photos. Now everything seems very clear to me and they sound very good. I am very confident with this project and looking forward to the next Wednesday.

Group work experience

I had group work opportunities in Eng150 course. The one that was successful was about Iowa flood in 2008. We had four people in our group, so we divided the whole project into 4 parts. We made powerpoint sides of our own parts separately at home and combined them before presentation. I think it very important to divide the project into parts and assign to each group members. In this way, every group member can contribute to the group.
I had one group work experience last semester with a bad apple in my group. We had four people in our group. Because it was close to the final, everyone was very busy. We appointed with each others to meet in the library to do the project, however, he didn't come for some reason. Without a group member, we could not get the project done during our first meet. So we decided to meet a second time, however, the second meet was at the weekend right before the dead week, and two of us miss the meeting that time. In the end, we finished the project by emailing each other, but its quality was very low.
I think every one should come to the group meeting with no excuses. However, as a group, we need to determine a group meeting time which works for everyone so that we could hear that he or she guarantee that he or she will come.

Imitation Writing (Fecundity)

It is my home town,

a city that is small but not poor.

She is a coast city in south east China,

and develops very fast.

Old buildings keep going down,

while new ones stands up.

She has industries,

and she also has culture.

Leather shoes were the things she became unknown of.

Kings of 2000 years ago praised the orange grew in this land.

Her name is Wenzhou,

which literally means a warm city.

As far as I could remembered,

I saw only 3 snows during the entire 19 years winter I spent there.

The weather is mild,

though the air is not so clear.

We see the future through the buildings,

which are under construction.

It is my home town,

and I love it.
