Thoreau and Mcchandless

Both Thoreau and McCandless were very smart person. Thoreau graduated from Harvard and he could make a living very easily no matter what jobs he did. Thoreau was also known for his interests in geology, which could be explained as one of the reasons he'd like to live close to nature. McChandless was a straight A student and also a elite athlete. However, they were different persons. From Walden by Thoreau, I can tell Thoreau knew exactly what he wanted to find in his life. His idea about living away from the society was more matured than that of McChandless's. While McChandless didn't know what he really want. One of the major reason he got away was that he didn't like his parents and most people in the society. However, Thoreau lived in Walden just because he loved nature. This difference explains why Thoreau could manage to find one place and lived all by himself there for a while. But McChandless moved around all the time but couldn't find a place he really enjoyed. McChandless's purpose was to run away from the society, so it would be his fate to get lost in the wild. Thoreau walked into the wild with the love of the nature and freedom, so he could find his way.
